FAQ
Why Pittsburgh?
Because of the pandemic, our director splits his time between Los Angeles (where he works for a major entertainment company) and Pittsburgh. I live in Seattle.
What is the budget?
We're currently planning two shorts, one for $15,000 and the second for $85,000.
How much are you paying for the script?
Good question. That depends on the preliminary budget depending on the story. We have worked on plenty of no- and low- budget projects for friends where no one has gotten paid. I don't want to do that. I want everyone in the project - writer, cast, and crew - to get paid something. It might not be much, but it will be something. I would estimate $500 as a minimum.
What are you looking for in a script?
Something entertaining and compelling that can be filmed economically for the budget. The smaller the cast and number of locations, the better. If your script has car chases, a lot of action scenes, animals, kids, special effects requirements, and is set on a moon of Jupiter in the 25th century, it's probably beyond our budget. And we're looking for something that can be submitted to film festivals.
Why not write the script yourself?
Good question. We don't have a good story idea that can be filmed within the budget. And one thing we know, collaboration makes work better.
Will you consider the same writer for both short films?
Absolutely.
When are you looking to film?
It depends on when we find the right script, the needs of the script, and pre-production.
